Nooooo. Eia is one of those, what you call, SANE Zutarians. And I was the token Maikoer, but who cares, we talked about ships for like five minutes and PLOT for like five hours. TBH I have lost respect for anyone who still gives a flying fuck about Avatar shipping. (Ironically enough, Avatar is one of the few fandoms where a flying fuck might actually be managed.)
I never cared too much for any of the pairings in the show, but I've recently come to really warm up to Zuko/Katara. *gasp!* Too bad about a certain detail of the end. Ah well. The ending still rocked! Sane Zutarians ftw!
And yes, the show is obviously sooo much more than silly ship wars. I actually avoid the fandom due to the rabid shipping. It gets a bit old. I want to dip my toes into the fandom now, but still a bit hesitant about it. Maybe give it a few months for the fandom to calm down over the finale first.
Why didn't anyone insist on telling Zuko he said FATHER Lord rather than Fire Lord? They just let it go!
It was super cute and mostly pretty satisfying, though they did leave a few things out that I had been expecting to see resolved or at least addressed. And of course, in my eyes Aang and Katara have no chemistry whatsoever together...but it really couldn't have ended any other way, not neatly. :)
Yeah, I didn't think Zuko and Mai had chemistry either. I don't 'ship' anyone especially in Avatar but when it comes to pure chemistry I'd say that Katara/Zuko had a lot more interesting possibilities. But it really couldn't have gone that way, or what would they have done to wrap things up for Aang and Mai? (Haha, Aang and Mai as a couple!)
I ship outside of canon. XD I didn't particularly want to see Zuko/Katara happen in canon, but I very much enjoy the possibility of it. It'd've been nice if Avatar could have ended with all ships being ambiguous, but hey, I won't begrudge canon its ships.

The little chemistry they had was more than Zuko and Mai had. Those two were at their best when she was pissed at him for breaking up with her.
