All the homework I had to do didn't take me nearly as long as I thought it would...I was afraid that the ungodly amount of hours of sleep I got last night/this morning had totally screwed me over for the rest of the week, but it seems that that's not the case. (Hence why I'm updating this thing for the thousandth time this week.) So now I'm reading ( Read more... )

Aaawwwwwwwwww Nick Cave!!!!!
"It is impossible to just listen to it in the background"

It is not background music, it is "play loud, when you are alone at 4 am. music"
He is a genius *nods*
Why am I not surprised that you would appreciate him? *pets smart girl*

I'm actually suprised that you didn't know I was a huge Nick Cave fan...I've loved him for even longer than Tom (and perhaps even more than Tom). In fact, I wouldn't have gotten into Tom Waits if it weren't for Nick Cave, because if you like one of them, people always recommend the other.

Exactly --- that's how I feel about a lot of his stuff.

Oh, I love Placebo (which you probably guessed from me commenting on your post with Brian Moloko pic spam). I've been listening to them for years. "Without You I'm Nothing" is a fantastic album. :)

So, are you into Romanticism? This is one of my favourite periods. What a coincidence that you mention Wordsworth here, this morning I had an exam in which I had to talk about the Lyrical Ballads.

OMG, I had never seen this video before, thank you!!!
I really love this song... It's completely moving. He's a genious. These songs make me feel well and sad at the same time... It's weird!

I'm taking a class on Romantic to Modern literature right now...I like some Romanticism, like Keats. But overall I'm more of a Victorian / Modernism person, like Yeats (who kinda straddles both eras).

I'm glad my posting the video gave you the opportunity to see it for the first time. You really ought to do a search on Nick on YouTube, there's so much of his stuff on there, both music videos and live performances. Oh, and interviews too.

Yup, my thoughts exactly. :)

Yes, I guess Romanticism is quite... "Dense", let's say. I don't know many people who like Modernism, most of them just don't understand all the symbolism, that the importance of the text is underneath the surface! So you've won an extra point, haha ;)

I'll definately have to take a look at youtube... You can find some interesting stuff in there.

PS: It's been impossible not to read up there that you also like Placebo and Tom Waits... I think that, from now on, you have another "secret admirer"! :p
