Over the past couple days I've been doing a little internet research on archaeology graduate programs, as well as archaeology in general, to try to figure out if it's a career I really want to pursue. Today in my search I went to the website of the anthropology department at Peace College, the school where I spent two and a half of my undergrad ( Read more... )

I was definitely looking at Emerson too. George Washington University in Washington DC has a publishing program too -- but GWU is also the most expensive school in the nation (I'm not exaggerating).

I was mainly hoping to go to school in the United Kingdom; London has several universities that offer publishing programs, and there's on in Oxford too (although it's not offered by Oxford University, but by a smaller college called Oxford Brookes).

What kind of publishing are you interested in doing?

ugh ill probably stay away from gwu then... money's a pretty big issue.

honestly... i have no idea! i was researching MFAs when i found emerson's publishing degree and kinda fell for it. i just love reading... and correcting, haha! i think i have a good background - with a graphic design degree, then creative writing... i think id be fairly well-rounded, yet focused enough where both could help me with book design/editing/shaping a writer... do you have more info on this you'd like to share with me? i JUST started looking into publishing stuff.

Oh, jeez. That is just awful. :( I'm sorry, Jerri. Thank God you're with Jeani now. I know that now that you have Jaxen it will be harder to go back to school, but have you ever given it any thought?

That's so cool! I have thought about getting back into archeology. I almost got a minor in it when I was in undergrad but I didn't want to stay into summer to finish up two courses. I have often thought about getting back into it and reading that email you got gives me a little encouragement too. It is nice to know that English/creative writing can be a nice background for archeology. Good luck in whatever you decide to journey into. :)

Wow, if my LJ post gives you even partial encouragement to get back into archaeology, that's awesome! Good luck to you as well. Maybe someday you and I will be competing to see who can find the most awesome finds on our digs. XD

Just out of curiosity, what was your major in college?
