there's religious people, like very very christian people, and then there are religious people, irrationally obsessive people for whom the whole concept has taken an unhealthy precedence over their life. Dave Bazan (AKA Pedro the Lion) is evidentally a more dedicated to the religion than generally thought necessary, as his repetoire of songs does include some with overt religious messeges, generally a taboo among professional musicians, but as far as I can tell he keeps it somewhat on the backburner even considering that; he lets the songs speak for themselves and doesn't go off evangelizing otherwise to my knowledge. Similarly Lisa Gaines may be a very good Christian, firmly believe its tenements and hold them dearly, but I wouldn't call her a "jesus-freak" either. I am good friends with her and it rarely comes up. Considering I'm the president of the Agnostic and Atheist Student Assn here on campus, ie VERY agnostic, there is significance in that. I do not believe Miss Gaines has an unhealthy religious mentality

Okay. I guess it's just a question of what you think is healthy. I suggest that the fact that Lisa doesn't bring up religion with you very much may not be because she's less "jesus-freak" than, say, Dave Bazan, but because she has more misgivings about the possible effects of being too outspoken. Based on as much of Dave Bazan's own words as I've read, it seems to me that if he can be called "jesus-freak", Lisa is as much of one internally whether she shows it or not, and means to be. But maybe you were only talking about externally anyway.
Well of course "jesus freak" is an undefined term that anyone can define for themselves, but I think the point in my reference in my livejournal, the source of my angst was at the sentiment expressed by That Girl that whether or not I was Christian was the all important determinant as to whether or not I should like a certain group that is or isn't Christian. And that I'd like to retain as my thesis in this discussion
