So, after finding your snapshots, I went and checked them out and found that you apparently read The City & The City.

I've been torn about whether to buy anything by the author for a while so, how was the book?

The City & The City was something I picked up because it looked vaguely interesting, I'd seen reviews about the author and it was on 3 for 2 in Waterstones. I'm so glad I did - it did take a bit to get into, to get into the mind set. But once I was there I couldn't put the book down. It was amazing. I loved it. Mum read it too - she wasn't quite so ecstatic but still enjoyed it.

The idea of the two cities is just fascinating and something that stays with you when you're not reading it (or maybe that's just me! It definitely did weird things to my thought processes for a week or two...). It's definitely something I'll pick up again soon just to see what he hid in the early parts when you don't know as much.

I've picked up a couple of his other books but not had a chance to get into them yet.

And thanks again for the review on the Castle stuff - I'm hoping to get back into that little 'verse I created... so I can finish the rather large (for me) fic set in it so far sitting unfinished on my pc.

There's more?! *claps* Yay! If you need pushing, prodding or betaing, I'm willing and able!

I was browsing amazon and found the author recced as something similar to my favorite author, so I clicked on a few of his things and, I think it's called Rat King, sounded interesting and so did half a dozen other books and I couldn't decide so I didn't buy any of them. I might get one or two for my vacation in March now, so thanks for that!

7,500 words and counting... Be careful what you ask for - I might need all three ;)

Ah, vacations... :) Perfect time for reading without annoyances like work/school getting in the way!
