This reminds me of an article I once read wondering why everyone in apocolypse movies either walks or drives. Walking is tiring, slow, you can't carry much, etc. Cars break down, they're loud, you have to keep searching for fuel, etc.

Why doesn't anyone ever ride a bike?

Excellent point. Especially when you consider all the little wagons and saddle bags you can attach to your bike to make carrying things easier.

I am now imagining Mad Max riding a bike and towing a Burly trailer. :P
