Honestly kudos to you and Cristina for making your relationship work through all this shit. Long distance is hard enough but when you can't see each other for potentially years? Well shit. I hope her visa is approved in a timely manner. I can't believe it can take 2 years??

I hope 2022 turns out better for everyone.

Two to three years to get a partner visa???That's inhuman.
And she can't visit during that time? I just hope you can travel to her this year wherever that may be.

Omicron is wreaking havoc all over the world. Here nobody is in a hurry to impose restrictions and it feels like we're evolving to a learn to live with it attitude.

I'm glad you have plenty of work now!

Honestly it really is inhumane. The government shouldn't forcibly people keep people apart from their life-partner for longer than necessary and certainly not mulitple years. ):<

The Australian borders had been more or less completely closed until recently. Now I can travel, but of course I still cant enter Venezuela. And on top of everything else shes' not sure she'll have any vacation time this year (it being the third year of her intensive anesthesiology program). But as soon as we can meet up and go on vacation together we definitely will!

So you're waiting for the visa and then you get married? Wouldn't it be quicker the other way around? Or for you (two) to (temporarily) move to another country and get married there? Holiday plans?

It was the original plan to get married in April 2020 and then get a visa, but of course that was interrupted by covid. The problem now is that I can't apply for a spouse visa until after we're married and with travel restrictions we couldn't marry until we can actually travel to do it, so that would delay the marriage visa until we managed that, where teh fiancee visa we can start immediately. Also the lawyers advised that it would take about as long and cost about as much and such and such for either visa so nothing is really gained at this point from getting married first other than a delay in starting the process.

Thanks!

And while Chile isn't until 2023 I am already somewhat looking forward to it (:
