Voyage of the Bounty, and the Trilobite

I'm desperately wading through waist deep freezing water in the claustrophic passagenway. The lights flicker. Waves barrel down the narrow hallway as gravity seems to be reverse itself, alternately gluing me to one wall, then I'm thrown at the other and so is the water, then I try to lunge forward as the hall hangs in zero gravity. The main lights ( Read more... )

Very interesting to read about places I'm somewhat familiar with through someone else's eyes. I lived in Victoria for a few years. During that time I went on The Great Victorian Bike Ride on 1992, during which we cycled from the Grampians to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. I also have a friend who lives in Warrnambool and I've visited there a few times.

Oh fun. How'd you like Warnambool?

Warrnambool is a very attractive little city, with some beautiful walks along the coast. My friend also took me to Tower Hill once, a beautiful spot. I can't believe the tourism teacher doesn't think tourists should go there.

Yeah! Like I said, I had previously heard more than one person poo-poo it as "just a country town" and "like colac" but I thought it looked very nice! It was already evening and a bit cold and blowy when I got there otherwise I would have walked more along the waterfront but it sure looked like there were some nice waterfront walks!

And yeah about Tower Hill I was like WTF did the teacher get mugged by an emu or what? Because it seemed extremely nice to me, and it seemed like tourists would be into it even if they aren't into the subtleties of nice nature walks because I haven't seen that many emus anywhere else on the Great Ocean Road. And seriously "cheese world" just outside warnambool does make the cut and gets included in all their itineraries. I'm sure i's lovely but seriously people?

Really as soon as Trent told me there was "nothing" west of Warnambool I was thinking to myself "oh ho ho I bet I can prove you wrong!" ;)

Not knowing a whole lot about the geography you describe I actually had google maps open and followed along as best as I could!
You weave your audiobook in with your travels very well indeed.

What an adventure! I am always interested in the small moments of traveling, people s o rarely talk about them.

I love that I always feel like I've learned something after reading your entries. You narrate such interesting facts, and the pictures just add to the experience of learning. I also really like that your car has neurological problems.
