Tuesday, February 20th, Dismal Swamp, the Tarkine Wilderness - "Wait, which way is it?" asks dad, looking from the small map to the junction in the boardwalk "this junction isn't even on here!" I would love that place with the boardwalks. We went to something like that in Florida called Six Mile Slough... you pass miles of this stuff on I-75 but walking into it isn't something that's readily available.

I'm still LOLing at the idea of these big gymbro kangaroos coming out of the bush and lifting up your car.

You can hear the distinctive call of these crossfit crazed kangaroos, as they call out in the forest "do you even lift bro??"

;D

Yeah Iove wetland boardwalks, they're always so fun! (:

Thanks for sharing your travels! It's delightful to read.

Your photo of the Dismal Swamp also reminded me of a bird sanctuary in Florida (full of egrets!) called Corkscrew Swamp.

Perhaps they are trying to rebrand it because there is nothing dismal about it? This was a fun read.

Haha though if I had seen "delightful swamp" or especially "Tarkine Forest Adventures!" on the map I definitely would have glossed right over it!

I enjoyed this...the remoteness intrigues me and I loved the Dismal Swamp and vote for keeping that name.

That beach is incredibly beautiful!
