According to Google... It is the tenth largest lake in the world by volume (though not in surface area), and the second largest saline lake after the Caspian Sea. Issyk-Kul means "warm lake" in the Kyrgyz language; although it is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, it never freezes.

Haha thanks! Yeah it was surprisingly warm! The ocean off the southern California coast sits at 65° and I think it was definitely warmer than that.

Yeah I always been a fan of the warmer waters, which sadly the Atlantic a few hours away from my house is not.

I used to live much further north in Australia where I was about a hundred feet from the beach and the water (the coral sea) was always in the mid 70s. It was glorrrrious
