That is a lot of driving, but California from what I am told (only been to San Fran and LA) is enjoyable. You can see all different types of environments from forest to deserts in a day's trip. Or so I am told.

I went into it a bit more on the entry from the beginning of my trip where I drove north across California, the fast way I did in this entry is fairly boring, but there's longer routes along the coast that are beautiful. There's also a desert route east of the Sierra Nevada mountains I haven't taken for years that I rather fancy I'm a bit overdue for. And if one can work the redwoods in the northwest of the state into one's trip its well worth it!!

Are you going anywhere for the Solar Eclipse? My sister and I are going to Nashville so we can see it in totality.

I think it'll only be visible in North America (?) and I'll be in Congo. :-/

Aw . . . yeah, a band across the United States get to see it in totality. I think all of the states can see it in partiality . . .
