One of the biggest misconceptions I find foreigners have about the United States is that they've been falsely lead to believe Los Angeles is a delightful place.

The closest I've ever come to getting killed on the highway was L.A. I am under no illusions as to its wonderfulness. I do want to see the Jurassic museum and the La Brea tar pits, though.

Yeah LA traffic does this thing where it goes from flying at 70 to a stand still suddenly out of nowhere, you've really gotta keep your wits about you on those freeways!

The random car parts lying in the middle of the expressway are another fun feature of California driving!

This was so much fun to read. And I totally agree with you about LA and about the addition of current affairs to your travelogue. I've been keeping a journal, off and on I admit, for my child since before he was born and it's those bits that really resonate when I reread it. Those bits place me in the timeline :)

LA is good only for the museums in my book.

My Scout troop was in Camarillo! We were not rich enough to live there though haha
