Had no idea they were decommissioning any of the nuke plants!

Pendleton is an amazing place to go camping should you ever get a random opportunity.

The beach camping you mean? Yeah it's pretty nice, and even as a day trip (it's not far from my parents house) it's nice to go to the beach camping area because the beach is always pretty empty down there.

And yeah pretty sure San Onofre is pretty much mothballed at this point.

The base itself actually. The bird and other wildlife spotting is amazing since they have nothing to fear there. Even on the rifle ranges, they stop the shooting as soon as any wildlife meanders across our path. (Much as I hate cleaning weapons, I loved range time because it is probably the chillest the army gets)

The beach camping is also pretty awesome. Come to think of it, I have never really touristed all that much of SoCal when I lived there beyond theme parks (and those were family trips mainly). Was too busy camping and hiking.

Cool. I guess I remember when I was little we went on an Indian Guides camping trip to somewhere within the camp but it was a big boring family camping area ... I'll have to look up camping camping, because yeah I bet there's some really nice places in there, the whole thing is so undeveloped its really great.
