I was actually pleasantly surprised -- that same evening after posting this, later in the evening a bunch of us were in the bar having a jolly old time and I overheard our bosun saying to someone else exactly that: that he thought I was a key example of a hoped for turnaround in what the crew was like.

Funnily enough, every other sentence out of Aaron's (Our stew-ed-co) mouth is "Well, on the Hawaiian Cheiftain..." He's fun, but drives us bonkers.

Betcha we could trade him for you when you get here. You'd get his foc's'l berth.

If they want him back here ;)

I got in trouble for "on the Lady Washington..." the other day. :[ They have some totally unnecessarily complicated way of furling the sails, so I was just like "gee on the lady we just wrap it around and tie a reef knot!" this got me an extremely disapproving look and "forget what you think you know about the lady!!! repeat after me: 'I am an empty glass'!"

::grumble grumble: I still don't know why they have such a complicated way of furling the sails, it seems daft.

This is not at all apropos of your entry, but I thought you might be interested in this: Beehive found in Rosslyn Chapel - just in case you hadn't already seen it.

Good luck with the crew - sounds like a challenge!

Neat!! Thanks for that link, that's really neat.

Funny how it just casually mentions two skeletons at the end of the article. Um what??
