Wow, those trinker peddlers sound almost scary. lol

When I think of Egypt I would never think of scuba diving! I'm glad you're having such a good time. :-)

Yes, the trinket peddlers ARE almost scary. /:

I've heard all kinds of bad things about Cairo but I just walked down a busy street at night to get to this cafe and not a single person bothered me. Nice to be in a place that's got so much else going on that its not all tourists and tourist predators

You make this all come to life as I read. It's so cool you were able to eat somewhere where the people who live there go out to eat. I think if I can ever travel, I'd like to be able to experience other countries that way. Love reading your travels.

Yes there's definitely a WORLD of difference between eating and doing the tourist things and getting the local experience. Unfortunately despite my best efforts it is often very hard as a tourist to get away from the "tourist things," because they're strategically placed all around where one would be as a tourist. It was definitely a real lucky break making some local friends.

Also, thanks! (: I feel like I'm writing crappy entries since I usually only have barely enough time to hammer them out without running out of computer time, much less take the time to proofread or work on the composition structure.
