Room 405 [Afternoon]

Dec 18, 2005 14:17

After spending most of yesterday putting the flight simulator together for he and Rory's just-friends-spending-time-together evening tonight, Anakin looked at the gifts he had bought for people using the money he'd won in Vegas and had never quite gotten around to telling the Council about ( Read more... )

The gremlin who monitored Anakin's room saw the packages slide under the bed and heard the jingling. He snuck out of the vent and shook one of the packages. It jingled again. He looked out from underneath the bed to see if anyone was concerned about the noise. When no one responded, he shook the package again louder, watching for a reaction.

When none came, he crawled back to the wall, sat down and began ripping off the paper. Pulling the bells out of the box, he shook them happily. He continued to shake them as he ripped open the other boxes as well. After each box was opened, he added the new bells to the ones already clutched in his hand.

When all of the boxes were open, he sat there under the bed, shaking the bells an humming the scraps of Christmas songs he'd learned previously.

Anakin, wrapping his presents for Rory, smiled and peered under the bed.

"Merry Christmas, you little monster," he said. "Those are for you so you stop taking my bell, okay?"

The gremlin grinned hugely at Anakin. Muttering something that had the cadence of "Merry Christmas", he turned and dove down the vent. The sound of bells could be heard echoing throughout the vents as the gremlin descended.

Having gotten word to swing by, Han comes over, carrying a bottle of ice-wine with a jaunty bow tied around the neck.

"Hey!" Anakin said, waving Han into the room. "Got a gift for you for this weird holiday neither of us celebrate."

He handed over a holocube wrapped in bright paper. "Um, I remember you saying that you didn't really know much about the Jedi. So I pulled some of the stuff from the archives about a few of them: Master Yoda, Master Windu and Master Jinn." He shrugged. "It's totally okay if you hate it."

Han laughed. "Any excuse for presents is a good one. It's Alderaani Icewine." He hands the bottle across and takes the cube. "Thanks. The Jedi are kinda mythical, you know? These great powerful warrior-diplomats who fix all the galaxy's problems. Or used to. Haven't heard anything much about them since the war for the last couple years. It'll be interesting. Chewie'll like it if nothing else."

"Alderaani icewine is great," Anakin said with a smile. "And the whiskey was fantastic, by the way. Thanks again for it."

He frowned at the news of the Jedi. "Huh. Wonder what happens." He closed his eyes. "No, no I don't. Always in motion, is the future," he quoted. "Knowing about it, trying to change it, can have terrible effects." He shrugged. "So I've been taught, anyway."

Angela taps on Anakin's door with two snowflake-wrapped boxes in hand.

"Hi!" Anakin said. He was positively cheerful. He hadn't expected to get gifts from anyone, and was a little overwhelmed.

He pulled out a gift from the diminishing pile and handed it to Angela.

"Merry Christmas, right?" he asked.

Angela unwraps the book. "Merry Christmas," she confirms, bouncing just a little. "I'll have to read this over break. Maybe I'll get to take philosophy next term, too."

She hands Anakin a midsized flat box and a smaller dense one. "They're sort of jokes. Maybe not, like, good ones."

Anakin unwrapped the gifts with a grin. "These are great," he said, holding up the t-shirt, then flipping through the book. "Really. Thank you."

*Late in the evening, Hamlet stops by Anakin's room holding a package wrapped in very dark navy paper. He pauses before the door and knocks.*

"It's open," Anakin called, reaching out through the Force to figure out who it was.

Hamlet. He reached onto the bed of packages and found A flat, red-wrapped box, and a slightly larger green box.

*Hamlet enters the room and holds up the package.*

I brought you a Christmas present. I don't know what the customs of your homeworld are, my but family celebrates Christmas, so I got something for you.

*He hands Anakin the package.*

I would have gotten black wrapping paper, but apparently it's not 'festive' enough to produce.

"Thank you," Anakin said, opening the gifts with a smile. He gave the foil a few practice swings.

"Christmas is not our tradition, but I've found myself getting pretty into it." He handed over the two packages he was holding to Hamlet.

"And these are for you."

"And I've got one for you," Anakin replied, handing him a heavy package wrapped in red paper.

"Um, when you open it, let me explain," he said quickly. "Because it might seem weird."
