Waiting for Obi-Wan

Oct 28, 2005 16:27

After stopping into town for a present for Obi-Wan, taking part in some campus beautification, de-gremlining himself, and baking some Tatooine sand cookies that are (relatively) sand-free, Anakin paced back and forth in his room and waited for his comlink to chirp.

He's not excited. Really.

Obi-Wan lands his small two-person shuttle at the coordinates Anakin sent him, somewhere not far from school grounds. He buzzes Anakin's comlink from the shuttle's radio.

"Anakin? Are you there? I've landed. Where should I meet you?"

Anakin hasn't started bouncing. Stop thinking he has.

"Welcome, Master," he replied, keeping his voice calm. "There is a check-in at the entrance to the school grounds. They will have to confiscate your lightsaber, I'm afraid. Shall I meet you there?"

Obi-Wan can hear the repressed excitement in his Padawan's voice, and smiles a little. It's good to know that his visit is not wholly regarded as a wildly painful chore.

"Very wise of them. Yes, why don't we meet there, and then you can start introducing me to your friends and we can get the embarassing stories out of the way."

"Very well, Master. I will see you in a few minutes, then." Anakin clicked the comlink shut and went racing out the door.

Perhaps if he gets there quickly enough, he stop Obi-Wan from telling anyone anything truly humiliating.

He wasn't counting on it, of course.

Anakin unlocked his dorm door, and escorted Obi-Wan inside.

"Bigger than Temple accomodations, for sure," he said, "and my roommate and I don't really have anything to clutter the place up."

Obi-Wan's realized Anakin is trying to steer him away from his friends, but he is a (mostly) patient man. (He ignores the little internal voice - which sounds a good deal like Qui-Gon - snickering loudly.)

"It is a very nice space -- and good to see that all Temple discipline doesn't go by the wayside the moment you leave."

"You mentioned something about a bite in town? It was quite a long trip here."

Anakin shrugged, trying not to seem pleased. "You taught me well. Besides, it's not like I have a lot of stuff to fling about." He walked over to a basket full of chocolate and handed it to Obi-Wan with a blush. "Welcome to Earth, Master."

Obi-Wan's clearly surprised, tickled pink (though mostly hiding that part), and simultaneously a little confused as he reaches for the basket.

"Sweets? How did you know --" He breaks off, startled by something in the basket and yanking back his hand. "What the..?"
