These two lines: "He'd been an orphan for almost two hours and had never even known it," and, "He leans over and kisses him. First on both cheeks and then on the space where his heart used to beat."

Those were so heartbreaking and poetic I had to tell my boyfriend the story and read the sentences aloud. He was actually interested, so props to you. You took an already sad topic and just topped it with that kind of writing. Used to beat? God! PAINFUL!

I love the ending. This could have just ended sadly, but Noah deciding to take on Burt's role as Kurt's protector sews the bits of my heart back together.

I'm speechless. I feel so insufficient just saying you broke my heart but i can't really think of any other thing except that this was a real heart breaker. The intensity of emotions was so overwhelming.
