The top is finished! I was thinking of doing a sawtooth border, or maybe piano keys, but I decided it would be too busy and the quilt really didn't need it. So I went for a simpler border, using two fabrics that are already well represented in the body of the quilt pattern.

It would be a lot harder by hand. O_O At least, in my opinion. When I did simple, simple quilts (sewing just squares together) and I was working on it HARDCORE because they were gifts, it took me a few weeks to a month to make each quilt. I hand-sewed the border on some queen-sized quilts and I remember one took me HOURS to do just that part by hand.

Check craigslist or freecycle - you might be able to get a cheap sewing machine.
