The Avengers

So I finally watched The Avengers last night. I avoided it for weeks--which, probably a bad idea, because when I asked around last night if anybody wanted to come to see it with me, practically all the people I'd asked (which, admittedly was not very many) said they'd seen it too many times already. Finally I asked my brother because I knew he hadn ( Read more... )

Firstly, I wanna apologize for being so very late to comment. I've been sick lately and now there's so much shit going on at home that I just don't feel like coming online. I just wanna go away for a while...

Now I know you don't share the same love for this movie as I do, but yes I do agree with you where the scenes in "Calcutta" were concerned. India's always been the land of shit and slums (Slumdog Millionaire anyone??) for them...but honestly I really couldn't care less about what they think and how they portray our country. Hey if Hammer of the Gods didn't bother me (where Lucifer just swatted Ganesh away like he was a fly), then nothing can. I have never been there but I know for a fact that Kolkata is a beautiful place. And yes how is it that the little girl's hindi was so....weird. Not natural ( ... )

Hey, it's ok, babe. I understand. I've been crazy-busy lately as well, and am checking LJ after a long, long time. I hope you're feeling better now. ♥

I don't honestly mind the whole slum thing? Really. I liked Slumdog Millionaire. But when you're looking at India/Indians as nothing more than a symbol of poverty and disease--a symbol to be randomly referenced and never to be represented in the movie in any other way... I'm going to take issue.

how is it that the little girl's hindi was so....weird. Not natural.

That's because she was speaking heavily American-accented Hindi. The "slums" here was actually an elaborate set in New Mexico, where they got Indian American actors to play the parts.

The rest of the movie was genuinely enjoyable! :p I think that got swallowed up by my diatribe. But I didn't find it inspiring/memorable in any way. That's my main grouse with the film, I guess.

Tony/Banner together. Yuck! And yes lets not forget Thorki

I think Tony/Bruce would be awesome. I have no interest on reading Avengers fanfic, ( ... )

And come on--being so long in the SPN fandom, you must be used to the incest! :p Thorki has potential, too.

Nyet! Nahin! Naahi! Nathi! Non! To sum it up - NO! I detest wincest! And I have no liking for Thorki either! :P

Haha I love the movie so much, I've pre-ordered the DVD!

But this will be done, I promise. For sure before your next birthday. :p

Well I just have to make sure I'm alive till then don't I? ;)

So what have you been upto? Tell meeeeeeeeeeeeee!
