This... is a bit of a pointless fic that started writing itself in my head a couple of weeks ago and wouldn't stop nagging me. So... here we are.

Summary: AU. Dean and Sam never grew up together. It doesn't mean that they aren't still pawns in a cosmic endgame, and that, despite spending a lifetime apart, they aren't still brothers.

Bravo! Very moving and a tight piece of writing to pack in so much in such a short space was a real achievement. I loved how Dean retained so much of his character in a totally believeable way, and that even having grown up apart he still felt that intense loyalty to Sam as well as a begrudging affection for his foster/adopted brother.
