I love The Mary Tyler Moore Show. It's just the best. All the characters were brilliantly written and portrayed, but I must admit to loving grumpy, hard-drinking, soft-hearted Lou Grant the most. Every time I watch the series from beginning to end I wind up in smitten-kittensville by the time Lou's divorce arc comes along. Seeing this tough, old

I watched the first two clips but couldn't watch "Lou Dates Mary" because I'm still a little traumatized from watching it when it first aired. It was so uncomfortable!

I watched the episode again last night while writing this post. It's uncomfortable, but in a hilarious, endearing way. If you haven't seen it since 1977, you should really give it another try. *g*
