A hasty list because it took me forever to compile the list. There's got to be a more sensible way...

Green Grows the Garden, Beverly Nichols
The Cat’s Table, by Michael Ondaajte
Shades of Grey, by Jasper Fforde (re read)
The Prague Cemetery, by Umberto Eco
The Floating Admiral, by Dorothy Sayers et. al. (re-read)
The Little Black Book of Stories, ( Read more... )

I admit to skimming a goodly portion of "The Woman Who Died A Lot" -- major disappointment. I think he's milked that cow one too many times, and I wish he would hurry up with a sequel to Shades of Grey.

I'm currently reading "Little Women" for the very first time. Never read it in my youth; tried it a few years ago and failed due to the high sugar content. For whatever reason, this time I'm succeeding and enjoying it quite a lot. There are definite holes in my reading of the classics; I'm in a mood to try filling some of them in this year.

I think that my comments when I was reading TWWDAL suggested that I felt like Mr. Fforde was tired of Thursday. In his "conversation" at Town Hall some months ago he implied that he'd rather be writing "Shades of Grey" but that sales of the first books weren't great. I'd rather see that sequel, too. I thought he did some interesting things with the new Thursday but, really, more Grey would be much better.
I hope you continue to like "Little Women." It's one of my all-time favorites. "Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents," is an excellent first line. -em.
