Love is all there is

So that's me done with Hari Kunzru's latest, My Revolutions and, predictably enough, I really don't know what to say about it. I'm beginning to suspect that phrase is code for "I didn't like it the way I wanted to like it," possibly. It was, as I said to someone earlier, sort of a cross between His Illegal Self and Babel Tower. I don't quite know ( Read more... )

Why are we here? What's the point? How do we keep from destroying ourselves?

Be careful out there! Cars hurt!

Didn't Mr. Edwards steal that line from Angela Thirkell, though? And have you recovered properly from your own encounter with a car? -em.

Ms. Thirkell quotes the line at the start of "Cheerfulness Breaks In", which I am currently reading.

I am about 85% recovered at this point. Apparently it takes bruises 3-4 weeks to heal (this Saturday will mark 3 weeks) and 3-6 weeks for Level I shoulder separations to heal. Things seem to be running along that time-frame quite predictably.

Meanwhile, the driver's inssurance company has offered to settle the claim for $1300 plus the cost of the urgent care exam. I didn't actually ask for anything other than the medical bill (which was all of $200), but it seems silly to say, "No thank you", though naturally I won't sign any releases until those six weeks are up and/or everything is properly mended.

What are you doing this Saturday? I was contemplating a trip to SAM for the Roman exhibit and the Bapistry doors. Plus Lush. Wanna come? Novel-writing SOs are also welcome.

What about *next* Saturday? emmarytz February 29 2008, 17:25:38 UTC
I should email, of course, but that means finding your email address and just in case I don't manage that, I post a response:

This week has me wanting to hide in a corner, clutching my much-neglected Gradka (who is now expanding her brood batch!) for forty-eight hours. In reality, of course, I'll end up running errands as will the novel-writing SO, but I have to pretend, for now, that I can hide instead. And the Lush "party" is next Saturday. Would you be willing to delay your trip to see the wonders of ancient Rome for a week? Alternatively, will you allow me / us to dither about joining you until tomorrow? -em
