I confess I wrote this just to post something in numb3rs_slash. It's been so long I felt weird about not having anything there for more than a year. Thus, fic! ("I heard you missed me! I'm back!" /waves/)

I couldn't decide on a pairing, so I kind of wrote my way around a couple before settling on one for variety's sake. I figured this way I'd make Tam happy with hints of Ian/Colby and LG might enjoy the Ian/Charlie. I know I like Ian/Don, but I can't be completely alone in that double alpha enjoyment. ;-)

Title inspired by the song of the same name by the Rolling Stones, especially the following lyrics.
You can't always get what you want

Great insights into Ian and what he thinks of himself (and other people). He thinks he knows his own worth and what people think of him and is sure he knows what he's capable of. Good on Charlie to completely do an end run around all of that and go straight to what Ian really needs.
