well!

I have returned from what was possibly the most boring ultrasound ever. It took most of an hour, and it seems that at least half of that time was an attempt to get an angle where they could get a good abdominal cross-section shot of little Mr. "I'm comfy like this, I don't care if you can't see anything." My back is very annoyed at lying there that ( Read more... )

If they want to monitor the amnio fluid, then yeah... more ultrasounds, most likely. They did that to me my last couple of months.

Well, see... I'm at 36 weeks today. Baby's basically fully cooked. It seems kind of sumb to have a bunhc of ultrasounds at this point.

It's actually a really short ultrasound, all they do is figure out how much fluid is in there and compare to the last measurement. They were doing it about once a week, I think. That, in addition to the frickin' stress tests and the bi-weekly FULL ultrasounds.

Then again, I was "high-risk" and they liked getting the extra bucks.

I wouldn't worry too much about the size of his head measurements. From what I've heard and experienced, ultrasound measurements are a crapshoot. The one I had the day before I delivered Zoe had her weighing 5lbs 2oz and she was born at 6lbs 7oz. I find it hard to believe that she gained over a pound and a quarter in one day. My roommate in the hospital had her baby's weight over-estimated by almost two pounds!

Well, P's head was pretty much off the charts. It's a repeat of that I'm not looking forward to.

All I can say is, I'd rather have a boring ultrasound than the other kind. BTDT.

We're at T minus 3+ months, ourselves. Hang in there!

I agree, boring is certainly better than "aie, what is THAT?" But we hardly had any of the fun "oh hey, that's an arm, that's a foot, etc." stuff one usually gets.

"Is that an arm or a foot?" "Now WHICH baby is it connected to? Oh, shoot, I got lost, I have to start over."

Twins ultrasounds are even MORE boring (and lengthy). And they hide more effectively, having great camoflage.

Glad he's vertex and likely to stay that way though! Is it warm enough to float around in the lake yet? Or do you have a pool membership? I found floating to be really helpful the last bit when it was hot and I was huge.

not something the person facing pushing said noggin through their crotch likes to hear

Hee. Congradulations, lady!

My mom used to curse me with, "I hope your babies have as giant of skulls as you and your brother!"

P had a HUGE head. I mean, it doesn't look abnormal or anything, but it's a big head. Mine, too -- I have to upsize most hats by an inch or two. So I figure it's not that unlikely that this little guy will, too.
