I don't know if it's the pregnancy, the medication, something else entirely, but...

My hands feel really strange when I knit lately. It's like... I can feel the insides of my fingers more than I usually do. It's making for slower knitting on my Olympics project than I'd like, because after a row or two I have to put it down and wait for my hands ( Read more... )

I shall simply be envious of your ability to still have the inclination and energy to DO any knitting, because I haven't any explanation for why it feels strange.

hm. I wonder if it feels strange to me, too, and that's prat of why I lack the inclination. The energy bit? Well, I can't do much about that but get more sleep!

I can't wait to see the results of the spinning competition!

and that is all I have to say, for I lack brain.

Could be the hormones making your tendons and ligaments kinda bendy and stretchy. Y'know.

Nope, nothing like that when spinning. I washed it in lavender Wool Mix, which I use all the time, too. I really blame the drugs and hormones at this point.

I *love despair. com, btw. :-)

Could it be carpal tunnel or any of the other repetitive strain injuries? Knitting does, after all, have a lot of repetitive motions. Not that there's anything you can DO about it, so maybe I shouldn't have suggested it. There isn't Dragon for yarn yet :-)

I don't *think* it's an RSI thing, I've had those sorts of problems in the past (mostly college). This is very much an all-over the hand and fingers thing, and I sometimes feel it in other body parts. I'm inclined to blame a combination of relaxin from pregnancy and the drug I'm taking to "reduce cardiac output." It almost feels circulatory, but that could be an overactive imagination.

For past RSI issues, rest and wrist braces have helped a lot. But even with no knitting for days, it still feels... *odd*. Very strange.

A pal of mine developed arthritis while pregnant. I really hope this isn't what is going on with you, but she, like you, only had it in her hands and fingers.

Yikes! I hope not, too!

I'm on some medication to "reduce cardiac output" -- basically when I take it, my blood doesn't move around as fast, and my blood pressure is lower as a result. I'm apparently very sensitive to the stuff, I started on a small dose and spent the week exhausted. Now I break the pills in half and get the same blood pressure reduction, but with less tiredness. I really hope that the finger thing is another side effect.
