Aaaa! Skeletor at the opera!

So, we've just been to see the Seattle Opera's production of Die Fledermaus, which was generally quite delightful. This production was a little different than usual, because the cast was built around Jane Eaglen, so there were a whole slew of Wagnerian singers. When I read the cast list, I was torn between "that could work quite well" and "aw, man

Yeah, he showed up in full Siegfried costume complete with bear. We nearly wet ourselves. It was during the bit when Skeletor showed up this time. We also got the wheelbarrow, and when he's singing Siegfried offstage the jailer says "He's in the wrong opera!"

Ah, last night in addition to all the Wagner, he sang a bit from Indian Love Song (I think, "When I'm calling you-oo-oo-oo-oo") and the jailer said "he's in the wrong operetta!"

That's very silly.

Our most recent Fledermaus had a party scene almost as long as the rest of the opera. I think they had a violinist play an entire concerto. Nutso.
