laptop go boom.

Set down the laptop to get a beverage, returned, picked it up again and the screen looked all wonky. Can't get it to completely start up again, or on some occasions it may be starting up properly but the screen stays blank. Could quite possibly be yet another logic board failure since it's the sort of wonkiness that I saw when that happened before ( Read more... )

Ick. Sorry to hear about your computer. It sounds like the logic board to me...

Does the conductor know that the orchestra's too loud? If not, it's probably worth saying something.

It's not my job to say something. BUT the person whose job it IS to say something? He said "the orchestra needs to come down. A lot." And the chorus director hears it, too. So the two people who can appropriately comment on the situation are well aware of the problem, and are being protective of us and our voices, telling us to watch out for oversinging.

The soprano soloist has a lovely voice -- that's wrong for the piece. She's working very very hard (to the point where I think she might be hurting herself a little, she was making that "ow, that was painful singing face") to be heard over the orchestra.

Yeah, I got my last one about .. a month ago. They replaced the monitor cable, keyboard, and cd-rom drive, too. Last repair covered by the extended plan.
