Committment is no longer done with a promise and a ring, but at the lab, getting matching blood draws.

I'm so elated for you. All of the pictures tell the story, and he seems like a real catch. You both beam, and make a stunning, happy couple.

I'll confess something. For years, I wondered if you and Phil were even together anymore, because I saw no trace of him in your "online" life. I even came back to LJ to check, and couldn't figure it out. So, until you mentioned the break-up, I thought he'd already been long gone.

Turns out, he was, in a sense, and now you are with someone about whom you can shout from the rooftops. Because, Ryan Gosling...hey, Girl? ;)

But, seriously. Happiness is so becoming on you, it's infectious.

Thanks for this lovely "feedback." Yeah, in retrospect I had checked out of my relationship with Phil which was just inertia-filled. And it could have gone on like that until I died, I suppose. Too fearful to disrupt the status quo, obviously. In that sense, Phil was a stronger person than I in terms of honoring his own (puerile) needs. Not that I'd ever throw a compliment his way, because the way he ended things was just unforgivable, especially his refusal to say goodbye to my children.

I'm fixing to write a post about JM but haven't had time. Also, I've been enjoying not deconstructing this and just living it.

I recall a post you wrote about Damien and I remember this exchange you had with him that centered around the sense of reciprocity. This is my current experience, and it is so lovely and smooth. No angst. No questions. We are both amazed.
