Per the good robotnik's request, I have to make a post because, dear readers, I am in Love. Not with a new guy, don't be sad for Zach, I just have a new obsession with a craft. I'm teaching myself to knit. Weird? Not really, I don't think, it's kind of trendy right now, but that's not why I'm doing it. I started because I don't like just sitting ( Read more... )

I started because I don't like just sitting around watching tv, and figured this would make me feel a little more productive.

Oh. I have a cross-stitch pattern that I started ages ago that I should really work on before my job starts! Thanks for the reminder!

YOu'll fit right in. Knitting is the New Hip around Boston. Everyone and their Aunt Freida is knitting on the train, on the bus, on the street, in coffee shops, etc. There's a great new craft/sewing store in Dvavis Squrae that offers classes to teach people how to do really funky stuff with knitting and crocheting, too.

God, it is hip, isn't it? Oh well, I think it's kind of cool that people are into it, and I plan to make weird things, so it'll be fun.

hey, ain't no shame - i knit! in fact, i'm working on something right now! (well, okay, technically right now i'm typing, but you know what i mean ;p )

but then, i didn't learn because it was trendy or anything - my grandmother taught me years ago, and it's just something i've kept up :)

Yay! Someone who will know what the hell I'm talking about! I'm not ashamed, it just felt weird because of how fast I fell deeply in love with it.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that it's better to be into something that's hip in some ways. Cause you can get the stuff easily. Sure, it's "cool" to be independent and go against the grain, but just how helpful is it to be "cool" when you're importing craft stuff from Malaysia because they're the only people that do it.
