Mabel's Favorites recipe

Dec 12, 2013 15:27

stillscape asked for a recipe of the cookies that were giving me so much trouble today. How sweet of her to want to share in my frustration!

Please note that this recipe was very possibly written by my grandmother and doesn't have instructions like you might find in a cookbook, such as the order in which to mix things together. Good luck!

Excellent.*

*Coconut is delicious and I will not hear otherwise.

Ew, I just clicked through here to comment specifically on the grossness of coconut. Preach it, Emily.

Also pineapple, although I may be in the minority on that one.

Wow, you must seriously hate pina coladas. (I do too, but that's because of the coconut!)

I super love pineapple. I volunteer to do immersion therapy with you like mayonnaise girl (which is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen on TV).

I'm also not big on getting caught in the rain, although I'm reasonably into health food (longtime vegetarian here)?

To be honest, I *want* to like pineapple--fruit in general is one of my favorite food groups in the world, even over some desserts--but we've just never clicked. I'm also not a huge mayo fan, but I blame that on my being a third- or fourth-generation American Jew.

(Seriously, my mum used mayo-to-tunafish ratios as an argument for dating fellow members of the tribe once. She was only half joking.)

that looks super good even if it's not named after someone's fictional aunt

These look amazing! Definitely going to have to try this recipe out sometime.

Also, a butter paddle is what you use when you are pressing and washing your butter, of course! When you come to my house eventually, we'll make butter in my churn and I'll show you how that part works.

Butter churns, moose calls...your house has quite the interesting array of things in it. :)

Those are adorable; I love the sprinkles. Clearly, it's the sprinkles that make them a favorite.
