oooh i hate things like this... especially when i'm sure i used to know how to do something and can't anymore. it normally means somehow the program has changed but instead, i always feel as though i got stupider.
That is EXACTLY how I felt! I never had to use this MS Queries before, so I ignored that button for the longest time. Then I finally decided to try it, since nothing else was working, so what did I have to lose, right? GAH.
I had the same thing happen to me when I worked in the scholarship office at MUN. All of a sudden the mail merges I had been doing almost every day CEASED TO WORK, and I thought I was going to THROW THINGS. And I was like, How do I ask for help, when for 6 weeks I have been DOING THIS EXACT THING without any problem?
You'd think you'd get some kind of warning that things would change, wouldn't you? BUT NO. And then it takes FOREVER to figure out, which is so annoying because you've already gotten so frustrated that you've almost burst into tears at work and when you work in one small office with the four other people you work with in very close quarters, you'd really rather not have everyone see you get so upset over a stupid computer program.
Um. Yeah. While I'm glad it's not just me that this happens to, I'm sorry it happened to you, too!
I'm actually pretty good at them so I wish I could have been around to save your bacon so to speak. Glad you got it all sorted. Thanks for the e-mail by the way. I keep seeing it in my inbox and thinking I should reply to that, it was really lovely, I'll do it when I have a spare moment. Yet the spare moments and my seeing the e-mail never seem to coincide.
Now I know who to ask next time something like that happens! I had been pretty good at mail merges, until just this time. I think it's burned in my brain now, so hopefully I won't freak out again. :)
Don't worry about replying to the email, since you're busy. I just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you, and hoping your lj-silence was a good thing.
