I was told by a professor once in Christian studies that the church is not a fun playground. I just think I got a worse end of it than most. But my faith stayed with me despite how angry I was at the church in general. I know that I'm still dealing with that or I would be willingly going to church every week...it's easy to make excuses. I'm trying to overcome that. I've found a lot of friendly people at the Bible study which is really almost a service in itself. We sing and pray before the study and then my pastor elaborates as we read. We've only gone 3 times and it's been very eye-opening.
