While this is amusing, it was never actually printed in Good Housekeeping. In fact, no one can actually find a historical source for this, but the consensus is that it's an exaggeration, written by someone in the late 90's and slowly altered over the years, of the sort of thing taught to girls in the 50's and 60's. There is a picture of the alleged article that goes around sometimes, but it's also a forgery.
