2nd EMG Sketch Fest - Go!

May 21, 2010 11:59

ETA: Aaaaaand, it's a wrap! Pencils down, everyone, and no more prompts - scan and post your last pieces, and pat yourselves on the back, because you guys ROCKED. I hope you had as much fun as I did!

The Sketch Fest is now open!

Our participating artists are listed here!

Please visit their sites and enjoy their amazing work, as well as support their efforts.

Prompters:

Please leave us ideas and inspiration to keep us sketching through the day!

Prompts can be one or two words, character descriptions, photos, weird science facts... whatever! Your prompts will be available for all artists to choose from, and most of us will be working in the fantasy and science fiction genre. You may post one prompt or several.

Artists:

Have fun!

When claiming a prompt, reply directly to the person who left the prompt, and please call it out in the subject of the comment. CLAIM: Mushroom Imp, CLAIM: side-saddle snail, etc. (This way, it's easy to see at a glance what's a claim, and what's just a random side comment, even when there are a 100 comments to sift through.)

More than one person may claim a prompt - it's fun to see different interpretations of the same idea! And you may combine prompts, if they mesh together well.

Artists have 1 hour to complete a sketch for the prompts they claim. You aren't required to post it within an hour - maybe you get a phone call, or want to scan all of your finished sketches at once, or who knows. You are simply on the honor system not to spend more than one hour on the sketch before posting it. You are also invited to finish the pieces later, if you like what you start! Any medium is welcome. You don't have to spend the whole hour on a sketch - if you get to a good stopping point after 20 minutes, that's fine, too!

When you post the finished sketch, reply directly to the person who left the prompt - try to avoid replying to your own claim, as the person is unlikely to get an email alert if you do that. In the subject of the comment, use the following format: SKETCH: Star Dancer, SKETCH: young dragon, etc.

I have built you an uploading form to my hotlinking server!

It is located here, and lets you upload up to 5 .jpg files at a time to my server. It resizes the jpg to a maximum of 700 pixels on the long side and also creates a thumbnail and generates the hotlinking code for you! How sweet is that? You can upload your sketch and copy-paste the code to use the thumbnail link right in your reply.

A big thank you to our uploading form sponsors: selinafenech, draken_art and Jeffrey!

If you'd like to donate towards a spiffy webpage for future Sketch Fests, your support is very welcome (funds = features!):

Remember, no more than one hour on any one piece! You can spend less time, if you want. Our point here is to stretch our creative muscles and sketch like the wind - you can always go back another day and finish pieces.

Ready? Set? Sketch!

ETA: If you want to receive emailed comments for either your prompts, or the entire thread (lots and LOTS of comments), click on the "Track This" link, or on the push-pin icon. (You do have to be logged in to livejournal!)
