I didn't go to work today.  I got up and showered with every intention of going in since they really have no way to cover my position if I don't go in, but my throat was so swollen and sore that I just knew I wouldn't make it through the day.  I went back to sleep at 6:30am and didn't get up until 4:30pm.  My throat was then swollen on both sides,

Sounds like you need the sleep. Your absence from work will hopefully get them to appreciate you more when you come back.
