There is so much for me to update on, but right now I feel a bit too drained to do it. In any case, though, I wanted to share something with you. A few weeks back my public relations agent set up an interview with my local paper, The West Linn Tidings, and that week a reporter and a photographer came over to my house. The article ran in the ( Read more... )

They did a great article! Sometimes papers do such a perfunctory job of writing about a book or author, but this reporter really did a great job.

Just wanted to tell you, also, that Elisa bought your book for me for Christmas, so I will be reading it as soon as I have the time.

And, also, Merry Christmas and best wishes for a peaceful New Year, Kayla.

Thank you, Janet! I agree that sometimes articles on books and authors can be rather mediocre, either too personal with little information about the book itself or with too little personality, and I think she has a great balance. And she was a complete sweetheart which made it really easy for me to relax and open up.

Ooh, I really hope you enjoy the book! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it later after you've finished reading.

Merry Christmas to you as well, Janet, and a very wonderful and happy New Year. :)

I am so, so, so, so proud of you muffin. You don't even know.

Nicole did a really good job writing this article. Writing about authors is tough, because sometimes the journalist gets too focused on the author's life story, and other times not nearly enough. She balanced it great, and I got a real sense of you in there.

Sososososososo proud.

Thank you very much, doll. It's always nice to hear that you're proud of me. :)

I definitely agree with what you said about reporters and the articles they do on authors. Sometimes they delve way too far into the personal life of the writer and neglect the purpose of the piece; to discuss the book. Nicole asked personal questions, but they all pertained to the book so we never strayed too far off the real topic at hand. And, like I told Janet, she made it really comfortable for me to talk to her, and as a journalist you know that is really important to put your subject at ease. It also helped that she was 25, therefore still within my age group, so the interview didn't feel overly rigid and "professional".

Thank you again for everything, my darling. <3<3<3

That, coming from someone who I've admired for their writing for a long time, means a lot. Thank you. :) I'm sure I've told you before, but 'Catapult' was really what reawakened my desire to start writing again, so I need to be saying thank you for the inspiration. :)

It always makes me a little nervous to hear people are either just beginning the book or are planning to read it. I hope it doesn't suck. :)

Yep, great balance in the article -- a vivid sense of yuor creative work and equally vivid of yourself. And that is terrific :)

I <3 the part about balance in the events in your life, and seeing purpose for each one of them, whether it's positive or negative.

Also, your title is SOsoSO fine. Did you play around with a number of choices?

Awwww... thanks for the compliment, I think the same things about your own entries <3

Butterflies have *always* been special to me too [my last name is Butler and I have played with the name 'butLerfly' now + then ;) ] but I like them especially because they are transformed from caterpillars with many legs to butterflies with wings and brilliant colors. I think we need to try for that --- or accept the blessings of it when it happens --- as a metaphor for journeying through life.

One looks at a caterpillar and says: What? You are gonna FLY someday? Dream on!!

Impossible.

Till it happens!
