The electrician is here with his assistant, installing outlets, switches, and light fixtures. Furniture delivery is scheduled for tonight. My sister is coming over tomorrow to help me start assembling it

It's black, actually--flat, solid black. With glow-in-the-dark stars.

Oooh, sleeping under a night sky... lovely. And on a practical note, the black should bring the ceiling down a bit from its newly elevated position.

Surprisingly enough, the black actually has the effect of making the ceiling visually fly away and disappear. I noticed it when I first painted my living room walls a very dark purple several years ago: far from making a small room feel smaller, in all but the very brightest conditions (which don't come along often in this climate) the dark walls seemed to recede.

It's going to take me several sessions to get all the glowy stars stuck up there--there are hundreds of them!--but so far the ones I've managed to install are very charming.

Thanks! I'm giving myself jelly-calves this afternoon by perching on a step ladder and applying glow-stars to the ceiling.
