Coffitivity, the app I mentioned the other day that provides café sounds, is turning out to be something of a small miracle for me. That ping has been around for quite a while but it doesn't always give you the pingback. And I'm not sure whether it works with only entry posts or in comments as well.

It didn't work when I mentioned myself in my own post, but it worked when you mentioned me in this comment, and it worked when someone else mentioned me in a post.

Also, I'd assume that if you wanted to bypass someone else's pingback settings, you could just mention them without the user tags.
All in all, I like the pingback function. Google Plus (and, I'm pretty sure, Facebook) give you an easy way to see where you've been mentioned. In my world, it's a good way to join more conversations. I suppose in the brutal world of high-school cyberbullying, it could be a terrible thing.
