Considering that I'm supposed to turn in an edit of an 1800-page book "the first week in November" and I'm SOOOO not finished...not all that sympathetic to your data deadlines.
Perpetually applicable song lyric: From Leonard Cohen's "Anthem"
I can stand no more With the faceless crowds While the killers in high places say their prayers out loud They have summoned, they have summoned up a thundercloud-- They're gonna hear from me!
And I said "bitch with me" as opposed to "weep for me," because I know I'm far from the only person out there putting in extra hours. Hell, everyone I know is workin' overtime these days, and not necessarily getting paid any extra for it either.
Sorry you're up against a hot deadline.
This icon is as close as I can get to a representation of one of my favorite Cohen songs, "Bird on the Wire." Guess we're all trying in our way to be free.
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking, Everybody knows that the captain lied. Everybody's got that sinking feeling, Like their father or their dog just died. Everybody knows the fight is fixed, The poor stay poor and the rich get rich. That's how it goes. Everybody knows!
Well, maybe not forever (but bearing in mind that "a politician who is notably better than the opposition is nevertheless still a politician...")
OK, you covered a great deal in a few quotes and signs, lady! First, Please, please get that ballot filled out and in! We can't feel bad about where the counrty is going if we didn't bother to participate in the decision. I know, it's probably false hope that any of our votes really matter, but still, it's better than doing nothing.
There, my rant is over...
I love the sign about "You are here". What a great message for remembering to live in the NOW. Don't worry about the future, even if that future is only a few weeks out, like deadlines at work. Just do your best today, feel good about it and let tomorrow take care of itself when it arrives. Sounds like a fun walk to the office, even if it is not where you wanted to be. My sympathy and understanding are with you even if you didn't ask for it. Hope you get to stay home on Sunday and rest.
Actually, I had such a productive day yesterday--walked the four miles to the office, got a whole bunch of good work done while I was there, then had a targeted and effective IKEA run with Hel--that I feel quite energized.
I do have to go back in today, but I don't mind much. The type of work I have to do is kind of fun if nobody's interrupting.
And by the way, this energy level doesn't seem to be adrenaline-fueled stressbasket stuff. Just a sense of enthusiasm and awareness. So, go BodyTalk and Paraliminals!
