To my fellow writers, or anyone that cares about writers...

The bots at www.ebooks-tree.com have scooped up hundreds of completed stories at AO3 and posted them for download.  Four of my stories are up there now and totally without my permission.  If you've ever posted at AO3, check to see if your work has been stolen.  The AO3 tumblr  has some great information about filing a complaint, as does Read more... )

Can I just say that I may be a reader and reviewer rather than a writer, but I'm still outraged by this. You and the other writers that have had your works stolen have my support. Let me know if you hear of any letter writing campaign or petition that I can sign in the capacity of reviewer, and I'll be happy to add my voice to the complaints.

Thanks for the support. We swarmed them and they buckled pretty quick. The best thing was that they were linking back to the archives instead of downloading the stories, so they can't just set up shop again in a day or two.

I'm sure they'll go after our stuff again, but they'll have to work a lot harder at it the next time.

Checking in to make sure you're OK? I hope the website that was stealing stories remains dormant. Also, I hope that things at home have gotten less trying and that you, children and grand children are all doing well. I worry when you have a prolonged absence and just wanted you to know that I'm thinking about you.

Just finished Camp NaNoWriMo, got another 30,000 words done on that big story that's coming up. That was a miracle because in the middle of it my new computer hurked and I spent two days with tech support before having to do a full wipe and re-install of Windows 8.

Also started another part time job that is fun but is kicking my butt until I get the swing of it down pat. The money is nice, which is taking some of the pressure off.

I do have the next chapter of Humpty Dumpty almost ready to post and an entire new gen story that I'm on what should be the last chapter, so I should be starting to post again pretty soon.

Thanks for poking at me.

I couldn't believe it when it exploded all over tumblr yesterday. They had snagged a few of my stories as well and I was ticked that they would blatantly do such a thing. I was all set to send in the form to ask them to take mine down but when I went back on there today all my stories were gone. From what I've been reading on tumblr most of the stories from ao3 have been thankfully taken down.

So that's good but apparently this isn't the first time this has happened.

It is just a little disheartening but at least it was settled quickly.

Not the first, won't be the last, but when hundreds of us hit them on formal digital media copyright violations and also filed against their hosting site and domain registar, things started happening pretty fast, then AO3 apparently found a way to block them.

Eventually they'll learn - don't mess with us ladies and our smut. ;)
