I just listened to your voice post, but my audio player fizzed out on me halfway through. You and your mom get to the house; the garage won't open....then what? I'm dying of suspense.
Basically the mortgage company broke into the house because they thought it was abandoned, even though it wasn't dilapidated or broken down, they broke some of the locks and changed a couple locks. Turned one of the doorhandles around so that the side that you put the ky in was on the inside. They winterized the pipes and turned off the gas and power. They also took the water meter off in the basement. It was horrible, but we managed to fix most of the problems as the guy moved in. We still have to replace a couple deadbolts, but it's ok so far.
My mom is looking into talking to a lawyer about it, because my mom recieved no notice or anything that this was going on, and apparently in every mortgage contract everywhere is the clause that if the mortgage company finds the property abandoned they can come in and take over. BUT ours wasn't abandoned.
Ugh, it was a huge ordeal, but it's mostly fixed now.
LOL, yeah I was kind of freaking out on the phone post. Yeah, it was really creepy when we had realized what they had did, but thankfully it all worked out. :)
