The ratio of squee vs. serious politics in my head right now leans way to much to the latter. Therefore, a meme! Nicked from all over the place.

Okay, my question: in the Fire in her hands 'verse, how long does Merlin wander the lands of the kingdom before she and Arthur meet again, and what happens when they do?

So, one of the reasons I haven't written more of that story is that they haven't deigned to give me the details. I do know that Merlin wanders the lands until times have changed, until it's safe to return. But she doesn't just wait - she becomes living myth, sorcerer/sorceress, needed whereever she goes. I don't think Merlin comes running to Camelot the moment Uther is gone. She's busy, Arthur needs to settle down with his grief that Merlin can't really share. Arthur goes looking, they meet in the wilderness somewhere, on Merlin's territory, on her terms. And there's rejoicing and maybe tears, rediscovery - and it's all very bittersweet because they're both different (equal parts angry or grieving and wiser).
I think Arthur's left his shiny crown in Camelot, but looks very regal all the same, and Merlin is all androgynous and fey and wild. And then probably there's a repeat performance of their first time in the woods, except with more wild magic.

How inconsiderate of them! ;) *pokes Merlin and Arthur to start giving up the details*

Oooh, now this would be an interesting story unto itself, wouldn't it? Merlin wandering from place to place, doing good, helping with crops, healing sick babies, and so on, while also being sure to avoid any troops of Camelot that might or might not be looking for her. Because I doubt Uther would take the rumors of her works lying down, yes?

She's got her own life, however strange it is to most people, and she's hardly of a mind to drop it unless she ( ... )

Hee, I just started watching Being Human! It's a lot more dramatic and powerful than I thought it'd be. Also, the vampire guy is hot and distracting.

So I follow the multifandom meta, Yuletide, sometimes stuff like Kink Bingo, and read whatever strikes my fancy. Merlin is the only fandom I'd say I'm really active in, though. (Except for at Yuletide.)
There's the fandoms for things I've always loved: HP, His Dark Materials, Narnia, some other childhood books
There's shows I started watching for their fandoms: Doctor Who, Torchwood, Leverage, White Collar... (I read & LURK in these - all love/hate relationships of mine for different reasons, usually for being faily. Well, Leverage is better.)
I adore Being Human! I'd be incredibly fannish about it, if not for the fact that I find the storytelling's so tight that I don't need the fic. Glad you're ( ... )
