Wehey winter! I'm at my parent's - it took 45 minutes to get the car up the first 20 meters of our little road today. Snow chains and shovels and sand. Still pretty, though.

For Yuletide I got a lovely story - What A Loud Winter We Have This Year, Tove Jansson's the Moomins, Too-Ticky centric with a lot of Little My, set during the winter. It fits ( Read more... )

Ronia! I remember that book. I got that book at the same Scandinavian shop at the beach where I later got my Moomin books, and it was the first Real Book with Real Chapters that I read by myself when I was small. Now I wish that one weren't in a box on the wrong side of the ocean as well...

Oh Ronia. <3 She's still the heroine I love the most, so wild and wonderful. And perfect for reading yourself. It's a bother books are too heavy to bring everywhere! I wish I could have all my favorites in a portable library or something.

There's a Ronia movie too - I think the only movie I love as much as the book it's based on. It has the robbers dancing. :D

Oooh. Wikipedia told me there was a movie, but I was a bit sceptical about it. Now I think I shall have to see if, cough, the internet will provide. :D

You should! It seems Astrid was involved with the making of it herself, so that's one reason to see it. (And the girl playing Ronia is the cutest ever...)
