St Lucia day today and it's suitingly cold and snowing. I'm making gingerbread cake and watching the televised Lucia concert. It's a music school choir this year I think, and they're good, but oh it will never not be amusing to have teenage boys in white robes and pointy hats on stage. So adorably awkward.

oh, my heart was just *breaking* for Morgana (which isn't to say that I didn't love the ep, because I did, yay pain?) I tend to believe in the case of Morgana's storylines some of the genderfail is purposeful - that they're trying to show us that harm comes of standing between people & knowledge & etc - probably wishful thinking, but I'll be holding onto it as long as I can!

I wondered that about Uther toooo. I decided that in this ep, if Merlin didn't know Uther was the intended target, his motivation was all Arthur, but I would have liked to have seen that touched on in some way.

Also, ooh, saffron buns. They sound intriguingly tasty!

Oh yeah, that is a more hopeful way of seeing it. They have set-up that could let them show how secrets drive people apart, and how Merlin's bad choices will make things worse, and the dangers in withholding knowledge and manipulating someone... I guess I'm just not confident that they'll handle it in a good way. The very simplified use of "evil" makes me doubtful, for one.

Right! Merlin seems to have accepted that protecting Uther's life as well as Arthur's is what he should do, and I don't quite get it.

Saffron buns are sweet and very tasty indeed. My mum makes great ones but I've never mastered it.

Hmm, yeah, point. I guess none of them knew, and not what would happen to all the sleepers either. Scared, confused Morgana. Heartbreak. :/

Yes! Actually, come to think of it, has anyone but the Dragon ever said anything about Merlin's destiny? Because the Dragon could be using all of that to make Merlin obey and run all his errands...
