Chapter 10

A lance of pain shot through Sam's skull bringing him to his knees. Clutching his head with both hands he tried to breathe through the pain while images flashed in his mind. This wasn't like with the memories, this was different and not only because of the pain splitting his head open. This couldn't be a memory because he knew for sure ( Read more... )

Hee. Like that last line: very Dean :) And this one: "This couldn't be a memory because he knew for sure that Dean wasn't dead." What an opener!

Wasn't this the story where you started quoting the end of the previous chapter to remind people? I found that helpful.

I'm a little confused now about exactly where we are in the canon time line. As far as I recall season 2, it was in "Hunted" that Gordon revealed he believed Sam was the Antichrist but at the end of Hunted, Gordon went to prison, and remained there until s3. I'd assumed the back-story to this fic was canon compliant until Sam's memory loss occurred and I thought it was set some time in s2 so is the back story also AU, or is this a post Hunted AU where Gordon has somehow escaped from prison, or is it actually set in s3 just before Fresh Blood? In which case, is this a post demon deal story and Dean's keeping that secret from Sam?

There is no fix rule to the quoting thing, I do it when it feels right. Most of the time I use it in stories where I switch POV as a reminder where we left off.

We are near the end of S2. Gordon went to prison after Hunted and he is going to escape in Fresh Blood. They never said he didn't get out for a little while between those events ...
Thanks.

Yes.
There is about a year between the two events. A lot can happen in a year.
I like to stick as closely to canon as possible and this way I'm still in the frame of canon.
