very happy that you liked these! thankyou; i cropped an old photo and originally left the (now black bars) white. but then i thought, the black would make the photo more cinematic. so, it is perfect that you mention this.

Have you seen Lost In Translation? i was trying to convey that 'mood' through these photos

What a great concept! Yes- I have seen Lost In Translation (and been to Japan myself). It is definitely a great feel to that!
