Prosopagnosia

Okay I had never even heard of Prosopagnosia until this morning when I was looking up a form of dyslexia which Chuck Close has which evidently flattens out faces and makes it hard to recognize people.    My interest stems from the fact that I've always had trouble recognizing new people, and I never associated that with the relatively mild form of ( Read more... )

Ah, interesting about Tim Minear; I do hope the show lasts (it helps that it is on FX, they don't expect high ratings).

I agreed about 'Hawaii 5-0' being thin on plot (I think that was your criticism?) but I didn't care that it was thin of James Marsters and I like the actors and the budding relationships enough to keep watching it for a few more weeks.

And as I write I'm watching 'The Undercovers' and I really like it so far, I like the actors and dialogue so far... I think this could be a winner for me. And may I saw that it is really refreshing to have a show that isn't afraid to have their stars be African American... and NOT have their race be a factor.

And I just finally watched the 'Covert Affairs' two part finale and really enjoyed it.

I agree about Hawaii 5-0 being one that you can miss without missing anything, but I like the Caan/O'Loughlin bromance, and the family relationship of Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park (who will be, apparently, undressed most of the time but empowered to kick ass).
Actually I don't think 'The Undercovers' is any better, but there isn't much on Wednesday nights....

But now I must shut down the computer to watch 'Big Bang'! Yay!

That's weird, I sound mildly symptomatic of that too, to the point where I practice the association tool where you try to match up the unusual parts of a person's face to their name.

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions about the new crop of US shows - I think I've got space for one more good one and there are a few that sound potentially great.

well you might find me disappointing... I tried to watch 'The Event' but it reminded me a little too much (way too much) of 'Lost', so I erased it off my DVR without watching the whole thing...
'The Cape' (with Summer Glau) won't premier until mid season (after Christmas)
so I'm not sure what you were hoping would be potentially great! lol
You should tell me if there is anything you think I should try!

BTW I love 'Sherlock' and I'm looking forward to more of that....

Supposedly 'Fringe' got good after I stopped watching it, but I haven't mustered the interest to give it another chance.

Sherlock is terrific - the director for the first and last parts was the same guy who directed Lucky Number Slevin. Okay, not the best movie ever but he definitely brought a cinematic look to it all.

On the down side, you'll have to wait until Autumn next year for more. Strangely, even this is good news because Martin Freeman had been offered the role of The Hobbit but turned it down as he had already committed to Sherlock's second series.

Did you see No Ordinary Family?

No, I never even heard of 'No Ordinary Family'... is it new? Is anyone I know in it or making it (ie writing it)? I take it that you like it?

I often avoid shows with 'family' in the title because they are too melodramatic for my taste (I'm not a soap opera fan). But I'm happy to check out anything you like because we've agreed on so much in fandom so far!

lol

I see it is a USA show and will premier on ABC on September 28th (it has already been online but I didn't go watch it... so now I'll put it on my calendar). Is my face red! lol
