Um. Does this have something to do with the fact that the mouth and anus are the beginning and end of one long tube? And they are evolutionarily interchangeable, kinda?

Hehehe. It's from my first pharmacology lecture :)

The bioavailability (the amount of the drug, unchanged, which makes it into the systemic circulation) of a drug depends upon the route administered. Drugs administered orally or rectally have a decreased bioavailability.

I snickered when my proff said that rectal bioavailability is erratic.

Rectal bioavailability. Yeah, there's something a little wrong with that. Also, at 27 (or close enough), immature giggling is to be relished and enjoyed.
